1. Overview

This policy describes what personal data is collected when you use storix.dev, how it is used, and your rights. The server is operated as a private project in Austria and is subject to Austrian data protection law (DSG) and EU GDPR.

2. Data We Collect

Email addressRequired for registration and account verification. Used to send verification emails and important account notices.

MessagesStored to provide the messaging service. End-to-end encrypted messages cannot be read by the operator by design. Unencrypted room content may be processed as required to deliver the service.

Uploaded mediaImages, files and other media you upload are stored on the server infrastructure in Austria.

IP addressesLogged in server access logs for security and abuse prevention. Retained for 7 days, unless longer retention is required for an active abuse or security investigation.

Display name & avatarOptional profile information you choose to provide. Visible to other Matrix users.

Last seen statusTimestamp of last activity, retained for 7 days.

3. Data Retention

Messages & uploadsRetained as long as your account is active. You can delete messages and media at any time through your Matrix client.

Remote media cacheMedia from federated servers is cached for 30 days, then automatically purged.

IP address / Last seen7 days (may be extended for active abuse investigations)

4. Data Storage & Sharing

Storage locationAustria — self-hosted private infrastructure, no cloud providers

Third partiesNo data is sold or shared with third parties for commercial purposes

FederationMessages in federated rooms are transmitted to and stored on other Matrix homeservers worldwide, as required by the Matrix protocol. This is outside the operator's control once transmitted.

Legal disclosureData may be disclosed to authorities if required by Austrian law or in response to illegal activity

5. Your Rights (GDPR / DSG)

Under GDPR and Austrian data protection law, you have the following rights:

Request deletion of your account and associated data

Request correction of inaccurate data

Request an export of your data

Request restriction of processing in certain cases

Object to certain types of data processing

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (dsb.gv.at).

6. Cookies & Tracking

This information page does not use cookies or any tracking technologies. The Matrix homeserver itself may use session tokens stored in your client application — these are necessary for the service to function.

7. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated at any time. The date at the top of the page reflects the last update. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of any changes.
